April 2018
A dynamic market for apparel production, Bangladesh
undoubtedly has been enjoying the status of being on
the priority list among the buyers…With fast-paced
growth that has made the country reach at this position
today, it is facing barriers posing as a distinct threat
to its unchallenged popularity among the apparel
manufacturing hubs. Recently, the country’s apparel sector
witnessed the lowest growth (0.20 per cent) in the last
one-and-a-half decade. Moreover, a surging demand
for increased minimum wage will add on to the existing
pressure. With new factories coming up and automatic
cutting machines becoming the buyers’ requirement,
Shima Seiki’s automatic cutting solution promises
undeterred quality, productivity and reliability to the
manufacturers.

market
February 2018
Technology bigwigs Gerber Technology and Eton
Systems have initiated a business dialogue to
form a strategic collaboration to provide more
sophisticated technology and solutions to the apparel
manufacturers in Bangladesh and thereby increase
their market reach and business in the country. A
high-profile delegation from Gerber Technology
spearheaded by Sr. Vice President Peter Morrissey
called upon Mikael B Larsson, CEO & Partner
of Eton Systems, at a dinner meeting in Dhaka to
deliberate on the same. Underlining that Bangladesh
is an extremely potential market for both Gerber
and Eton, the respective heads maintained that the
country’s apparel manufacturers are increasingly
looking at introducing innovative technological
interventions to ensure product development and
optimise manufacturing processes.

Liaison Office, Shima Seiki
“Every process in ap-
parel manufacturing
from design to shipping
is isolated. They are not
connected and ration-
alised, thus employing
more resources to do
a task… Sensing the
growth of categories like
jeans and shirts, we have
now tapped the cutting
room also… Bangladesh
will soon head towards
virtual samples, because
in future, exporters will
not have the privilege of
longer lead times…”

Gerber Technology

Bangladesh market for
nearly two decades and
our ability to deliver in-

expectations from Ban-
gladesh. It is one of the
key markets in apparel
and home textile for us in
Asia and worldwide. This
is what motivated us to
tie up with Gerber Tech-
nology. Let’s see what
output we can bring out
together.”
