@Ananya @Akhil GEN NEXT THEN AND NOW The opening of LFW SR 2020 with the 30 alumni of the past Gen Next programmes was a sparkling show held at the newly-opened The Atelier. The alumni had reinvented one-piece from their iconic looks of the past to match the present. The 29th edition of Gen Next 2020 featured a new quartet of designers that included Akhil Nagpal, Ananya Modi Jain, Chandrima Agnihotri, Mannat Sethi and Harshna Kandhari, who delivered quite an impact with their talents. This time too, it was o a feast for lovers of eco-friendly clothes clothes. Buna’s label worked with organic fabrics for a lovely white e line with delicate detailing called ‘Yours Truly.’ Jayati Goenka’s ‘Evolve 2020’ stayed true to organic and natural dyes, while Medium worked with sustainable fabrics for the collection ‘Out of the Blue Red Yellow.’ The Sadhna Women’s Handicraft enterprise made its debut with ‘Connecting the Dots,’ a strong collection under its label Raab. Ashdeen Lilaowala known as the designer who paints with a needle and thread brought the beauty ty of the Parsi Gara embroidery to centre stage with his collection ‘Memories of Cloth,’ while the House e of Three worked with weavers from Bengal and Tamil Nadu to merge the two textiles and motifs into the lovely ‘Kumarikandam’ collection. APPAREL BLFW recently celebrated showcasing brated 20 years of show wcasing new collections. The e Summer/Resort 2020 season was held at t th the Ji JioWorld Garden, BKC, W ld G d BKC Mumbai from February 12 to 16. What started as a small affair with collections displayed by only 33 designers in 2000, LFW, has now become a mega giant allowing over 200 designers to showcase their collections twice a year.
