2014
The year 2014 saw 12 names, of which
six have particularly been making news.
Kerala-based Sreejith Jeevan’s Rouka has
been a hit, what with its lovely fabrics from
his home state. Ujjawal Dubey’s Antar-Agni i
created a new format for menswear, what
with asymmetrical silhouettes, drapes,
and styles, which later translated into
womenswear. Neha Agarwal’s colourful
creations are quite eye-catching and Anuj
Bhutani’s stark, simple lines have earned
him a fashion following that prefers simple,
minimalistic garments. Dhruv Kapoor’s
designing skills—which he acquired
from Istituto Marangoni, Milan—have
found a cult following. Kristy De Cunha
crafts amazing prints and fantasy cuts
are soaked in buoyancy, and are most
favoured as holiday and resort wear.

Armaan Randhawa’s arresting styles, which
have a unisex appeal, are colourful and trendy;
Rixi Bhatia and Jayesh Sachdev’s label, Quirk
Box, carry exciting print stories, while Debashri
Samanta’s Indian and fusion creations, too, are
making waves.

Once again, from a total of 14 names, Aniket
Satam’s trendy womenswear won the designer
a stint at Istituto Marangoni, Milan, while Asa
Kazingmei’s extreme, grungy menswear in leather
and denim has a strong male following. Sneha
Arora’s carefully constructed womenswear offers
unconventional clothes that follow adventurous
inspirations. Yogesh Chaudhary’s interplay of
fabrics make for interesting fashion statements.
Ilk by Shikha Grover and Vinita Adhikari feature
exquisite detailing with clever, nimble twists
of threads.
