How to Start Calculating Your Turnover Impact
Here’ s a quick and dirty way to get a rough estimate:
1. Count your turnover. In the past 12 months, how many crew members did you replace?
2. Add direct costs. Estimate recruiting, screening, onboarding, and training costs per person. $ 3,000 –$ 5,000 is common in our industry.
3. Estimate indirect drag. Think through how many jobs ran short or got rescheduled. What revenue did you leave on the table?
4. Factor burnout + morale decay. If your foremen are quitting too, you’ re seeing the aftershocks already.
