The Homicide Unit
investigated 16 murders with
a clearance rate of 88%. The
clearance rate includes 13 of
the 16 homicides solved from
2019 and one murder cleared
from 2014. The unit responded
to 3 officer-involved shootings.
The unit also investigated 43
suicides and responded to 331
death investigations.
The Fugitive Unit had
873 cases assigned with 799
cases cleared, including several
violent felons who were wanted
on various criminal offenses.
The department
responded to 8,074 domestic
disturbance calls and 2,626
domestic assault calls. The
Domestic Crimes Unit cleared
1,835 cases involving family
violence by arrest.
The Gun Crimes Unit
cleared 417 cases in 2019 with
100 arrests resulting in a 32%
clearance rate. The unit works
in lock step with the Bureau
of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms
and Explosives (ATF) to curb
some of the gun violence in
the community. ATF houses
an agent with Gun Crimes
Detectives and assists with
filing certain cases federally

represents one or more
criminal offenses committed by
an offender.
The Tarrant Regional
Auto Crimes Task Force
coordinated the response
to several calls involving
stolen vehicles. A total of 659
vehicles, estimated at $11.5
million dollars of property,
was recovered. The Auto
Theft Unit conducted 1,800
inspections on questionable
vehicles to determine if they
were stolen and investigated
510 cases.
