Detective Tracey Dixon, a veteran investigator within the agency, was selected to staff the position as a Domestic Crimes Unit High-Risk Intimate Partner Violence Detective. The primary focus will be on high-risk intimate partner violence cases involving strangulation. The Narcotics Unit has covert personnel that target drug complaints that come in from citizens and from field officers. In 2019, the department seized 10 pounds of Marijuana, 1,671 pounds of Methamphetamine, eight pounds of heroin, and over $783K in cash. Marijuana cases investigated by the department indicate that in 2019, 98.44% of bookings for marijuana involved a misdemeanor amount and 1.55% of bookings involved a felony amount. There were a total of 1,869 cases for marijuana possession. In addition, a firearm was associated with 9.63% of all bookings with marijuana possession or distribution. The Vice Unit worked 119 cases, executed 10 search warrants and effected 17 prostitution arrests. The unit conducted human trafficking outreach operations to identify potential victims and increase public awareness.
