Individual Recognition
Texas Governor Greg Abbott bestowed the Star of Texas Award on two
Arlington Police Officers at the State Capitol in September. Corporal Alex
Quintanilla and Officer Christopher Fegley received the prestigious
award based upon serious injuries they sustained during the line of duty. In
January 2019, Corporal Quintanilla was shot during a traffic stop. In June
2007, Motor Officer Fegley was struck by a motorist while responding to a
robbery in progress.
Governor Greg Abbott honored eleven Arlington Police Officers at
the State Capitol in May for a variety of outstanding service and heroism.
Sergeants Robert Walsh and JaNae Powell-McGee received the Texas
Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Achievement Award for Public
Service. Corporals William Brewer, Leonard Lake, Heath Cook, David
Henze, Ben Baskin and Officers Robert Phillips, Eric Garcia, Jacob
Williams, and Brent Mayorga received the TCOLE Award for Valor.

Lt. Christopher Cook was elected
as Vice President at the National
Information Officers Association
(NIOA). The association is the largest
communicator group in the world
representing public information
officers and communications
professionals in the government
and public safety sector. Lt. Cook
will automatically assume the role
of President of the NIOA in August
2020 and continue to represent best
practices that Arlington is known for.
DWI Enforcement Officer Stacie
Brown, a 15-year veteran of the
department, received the 2019
Texas Impaired Driving Traffic
Safety Champion Award. As a
member of the unit since 2007,
she has conducted hundreds
of presentations for teens to
educate them on the dangers of
impaired driving. Officer Brown is a
recognized leader across the State
of Texas and with Mothers Against
Drunk Driving (MADD).
