Officers patrolled alongside
other agencies helping stranded
motorists and assisted with
search and rescue operations. In
addition, officers conducted traffic
management operations, damage
assessments and reconnaissance,
and provided security at shelters.
Officers reported they were
grateful for the opportunity to
serve other communities and
help fellow law enforcement
officers from other agencies.
Some officers slept in racquetball
courts at Sam Houston State
University and hours worked were
long and challenging. Each of the
officers involved in this volunteer
assignment performed in an
exemplary manner and carried out
the department’s motto, “Service
Before Self, Honor Above All.”
