Spotlight - Hurricane Harvey
The State of Texas was
impacted on August 25, 2017
when Hurricane Harvey made
landfall on the Gulf Coast as a
Category 4 storm. Large areas of
destruction resulted in the path
of the storm. Harvey continued
to dump enormous amounts of
rainfall in South Central Texas
over the next two weeks which
caused catastrophic flooding in the
greater Houston area.
On Monday, August 28,
2017, the department mobilized
a team of 19 officers to deploy
in the storm ravaged areas. Over
the next three weeks, a total of 61
officers would respond to Houston,
Cleveland, The Woodlands, and
Harris and Liberty Counties to
offer assistance and supplement
existing law enforcement
resources.
