Noteworthy Accomplishments

• February 2016 – Traffic Officer Cody Towns placed second in the North Texas Inspector Challenge, a commercial vehicle enforcement inspection competition. He advanced to the state competition to represent Arlington.
• March 2016 – Baltimore Police Department in coordination with the COPS Office spent several days on site with APD evaluating best practices related to use of force and de-escalation topics.
• April 2016 – Arlington Police highlighted Autism Awareness month by lighting up headquarters with blue lights. The department received an overwhelming amount of support for this effort to bring awareness to this important topic.
• May 2016- Chief Johnson received the Leadership 2016 Sally Kallam Award. The award is given annually to someone who best emulates the ideals of leadership through efforts devoted to the community.
• May 2016- Take25 is a grassroots safety initiative created by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Chief Johnson and AISD Superintendent Dr. Cavazos met with kids on safety issues.
• July 2016 – DWI Enforcement Officer Stacie Brown received the 2015 Public Service Award by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement for her work in the prevention and apprehension of impaired drivers.
