The following is a benchmarking comparison of the seven most populous cities in North Texas, including Arlington, Dallas,
Fort Worth, Garland, Grand Prairie, Irving and Plano. These numbers take into retrospect officers per capita, density, crime
and socioeconomic values.
Arlington’s officers per capita ratio is less than Dallas
and Fort Worth, but more than Garland, Grand Prairie,

individuals who ordinarily carry a firearm and a badge,
have full arrest powers, and are paid from funds set
aside specifically for sworn personnel. Officers reported

street, but also officers assigned to various other duties
such as administrative and investigative positions and
those assigned to special teams.
