MILESTONES
Each year the Apartment Association recognizes someone as the “Person of the Year.” The
following eight finalists for the award were announced at the May Virtual PowerMixer. Here
is a brief overview of the nominees. The winner will be recognized at June Awards.
DANETTE BARRETT | Aviva Properties, LLC
Danette Serves on the AAMD Executive Committee as Vice President. She is an Alliance Member
and is both the past IROC Chairperson and soon to be future Chairperson. She is an effective
and persuasive communicator, testifying effectively on the Late Fee Bill and Rent Control Bill and
was instrumental in the defeat of both, saving the industry millions of dollars. She has even taken
the time to represent the Association in each of the Local Government Meet and Greets.
CHAD CRAVEN | ParkM
Chad continues to volunteer countless hours to Networking Council and the Career
Initiative Committee (CIC). He has played an integral role in the creation and execution
of the Maintenance Apprenticeship Program (MAP) by being the keynote speaker at all
the graduations which has been motivating for the students entering the industry. Chad
spearheads efforts with Arapohoe Community College (ACC) to develop the Property
Management Apprenticeship launching in September 2020.
REBEKAH FISCHER | Cardinal Group
Rebekah Fischer has been the chair of the Membership Development Committee for the last
two years. She has helped that committee achieve many successes thru membership growth
and retention. She herself has brought in many new members. Her ideas and involvement on
everything she is involved in, from the Board of Directors meetings to The Covid Task Force,
shows her true value to the association.
JENNY JORGENSON | Standard Interiors
Jenny Jorgensen has been a part of the Apartment Association for many years. During her tenure
she has been involved on most committees. She has been the chair and an instrumental part of the
Membership Development committee over the past few years. That committee has reached many
goals with her help and guidance. With her involvement in the government affairs and the AAMD
Alliance plus her continued support of the Economic Conference, she is an obvious nomination for
Person of the year.
JARED MILLER | RedPeak
Jared has been a leader in everything he has done this year! Serving in his first year on the AAMD
Board of Directors, Jared got the attention of everyone with his “Leadership (LEAP) Talk” at the
AAMD Retreat illustrating his passion and expertise for the industry. He has been extremely active
and engaging in a variety of committees, including the COVID-19 Task Force; he is frequently the
first to share information and ideas with the Task Force. Jared is the Chairperson for the AAMD
Communications Committee, and was recently elected to the AAMD Executive Committee.
PEGGY PANZER | Laramar Group

task force of over 100 members who Zoom meet weekly since early March. Peggy leads the
discussion around best practices and solutions around the crisis and subsequent conditions.
She serves on the CAA Board, the Joint Legislative Advisory Council, and has been a long
time Alliance supporter. Peggy also Chairs the CAA Small Donor Committee, which will play a
pivotable role in helping candidates that support our industry in the 2020 election.
ED SCHELL | HD Supply
Ed Schell has been a huge supporter of AAMD for more than 20 years. In 2019, AAMD
celebrated 20 years of hosting the Maintenance Olympics which is an event he helped create to
celebrate and honor all of our Maintenance Professionals. He has chaired every single event and
his company, HD Supply has been the presenting sponsor for every one of those events. With the
launch of our new Hands On Maintenance Education (HOME) Room, it was no surprise that Ed
and his company were quick to commit to partner and support this program on a long term basis.
CRAIG SWEGLE | Pool Doctor
Craig has been teaching AAMD’s Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification for years. Craig
dedicates 6-8 sessions per year to ensure maintenance teams have ample opportunity to train. As the
Coronavirus pandemic hit Colorado, Craig immediately started working with the Pool and Hot Tub
Alliance on virtual delivery options. On April 23 and 24, AAMD was able to offer their first virtual CPO
certification to 63 students via Zoom. Craig’s flexibility and innovative thinking has helped education
and certify more than 100 maintenance professionals in a virtual format.
