As people move away from rural farming during the onset of the Industrial Revolution, Romantic artists used landscapes (painting 3) to convey the beauty and happiness that could be achieved through an agricultural lifestyle. On the political side (painting 4), artists used their artwork to show their pride and patriotism for their country.

Economic and Political Connections

Throughout the period, Romantic art changed with the current events of the decade. As political revolution took hold, Romanticism turned more toward expressing nationalism and conveying politcal and social ideas rather than showing the beauty of nature.
