Valeka: You know I started when I was 10. School plays and things like that. But, love? I guess it was in grad school. When I invested all of this time, ain’t no looking back. /laughs
I think what it is, is really understanding why I'm doing what I'm doing. I've always just followed my gut. I always knew that I was an entertainer. I just always followed my path. For real, falling in love with this the way I've fallen in love with it now I thought wouldn't start until an older age. Then I really looked at how I had lived my life and it was like ‘Wow!'. Everything that I do had always served me to be able to perform. Looking at how many years I put into it, it was like, ‘Oh wow!'.
Anzzia: Let’s talk a little bit about your acting, you’re specifically theater, right?
Valeka: No but, my background is theater. My heart, my love is in the theater. But, I’ve done film. I’ve won awards in film. I’ve done television and film.
Anzzia: What would you say is your favorite? Do you feel there is a difference between stage acting and then acting on screen?
Valeka: You know, I used to think there was a huge difference. But, the ore you work across the medium you really start to understand that you have to just tell the truth. Acting is telling the truth. It's just telling the truth 100% of the time and giving yourself over to the given circumstances. No matter what medium you're working. Now with theater, the thing is you don't have the prep, you can't stop, you know what I mean?
Valeka: I'm an actress. I'm a professor. I own my own company where I mentor actors in regards to the entertainment business. But, also, coupled with that. I write plays. I'm writing a play right now, and a film. I have a TV show that I can't wait to get to start writing because it's just going to be so good!
Anzzia: Very nice. Well, okay, thank you! I’m going to start with acting. Where did you love for acting really start?
Valeka: Like, for real, for real?
