Owner: Alberto y Eduardo Heguy Player: Eduardo Heguy (h) Eduardo Heguy: “Oro Festuca was sensitive; very correct, beautifully balanced; she would play two chukkas and never tire; very fast; extremely complete. She combined two assets that very rarely come together: Power and Sensitivity.” 1996 & 1997 caro la capital alias Silvi Birth: 07-09-1989 SBA 10962 RP 55 By Alentadito (Corcel) & Argentina Breeder: Martín F. Reynal Owner & Player: Sebastián Merlos Gran Campeón Hembra Polo Argentino SRA, Palermo 1992 1995 oro malabrigo Birth: 05-10-1986 SBA 220 RP 1 By Datero (Voodoo) & Hormiga Negra Breeder: El Indio Muerto S.A. Owner & Player: Sebastián Merlos Sebastián Merlos: “I had made a bet with my father and won, which put him in the position of having to buy whichever horse I chose. I found Oro Malabrigo and liked him, and my father bought him for me. He became a very solid horse, very consistent; incredibly fast, just right to play in the N° 2 position (at the time horses were made to last out the whole chukka), and almost always played 2 to 3 chukkas. In the 1995 final he played 3 complete chukkas, at an impressive speed and wholeheartedly.” Sebastián Merlos: “Silvi – Caro La Capital, I consider to be one of the 2 or 3 best mares I ever mounted in my life. A pretty type mare, comfortable, good mouth; speed; good natured; a good dam. She was a mare that you mounted and could go wherever you liked; you could stop at any given time; she made me forget I was on a horse and I felt I could do what I felt like. I think those are the good mares, the ones that don’t force you to choose the play. I was very impressed by her staying power; she could play 2 to 3 chukkas and her last minute of play was equal to, or even better, than the first of her first chukka. She could accelerate in a straight line or on the curve as only a very few mares can do. She stil lives and I keep her in my garden at home; I have 2 of her daughters playing at Palm Beach that are very good.” 249
