Dolfina Cuartetera’ s Retirement
Adolfo Cambiaso:“ The best polo mare I ever played is now retiring”.
The polo lines were bursting for joy. The final bell had sounded at the 122 nd. Argentine Open Polo Final and La Dolfina arrived at its corner to celebrate a new Triple Crown triumph. The third in a row. Adolfo Cambiaso celebrated with his people: with his family; his collaborators and with each member of his organization. Quite apart from having broken a new record, winning at Palermo was not the only thing they were celebrating. Cambiaso was celebrating the victory of all his work team, because for a horse fan, winning the Triple Crown is much more than a sporting success.
The greater part of this sporting success is due to his horses, and one of Adolfo Cambiaso’ s winners is Dolfina Cuartetera. Dolfina Cuarterera was born in 2001. She is a daughter of Sportivo and Lambada. In turn, she carries Lode and Sport Fashion, by Sportivo, blood in her veins, as also of Sequito and Cumbia, by Lambada. This mare accumulated important awards: in 2006 she won Best Polo Argentino Pony of the Palermo Open Final, an award that she would win again in 2009. As well as receiving other nominations during her sporting career, she was chosen Best Pony at the 2012 Hurlingham Final. At Palermo, Adolfo Cambiaso not only celebrated having won the Open, but also the successful retirement of this pony.“ This is as far as Cuartetera will go”, said Adolfo. This was the reasoning of Cambiaso the breeder: this mare had already yielded much, and deserved to be put to pasture to rest, without the pressure of playing at the highest sports level.
Since his debut at Palermo in 1992, Adolfito is one of the greatest winners of the Argentine Open, breaking different records. Maybe his growth and accomplishments as a breeder have escaped some of you; that talent which allowed him to reach and maintain the level of competitiveness that he displays year after year. At this interview he tells us what his feelings were at the moment
