The Argentine Open Polo Championship ended and La Dolfina became Champion. During the prize-giving, Open Chequera not only was awarded the horse blanket to the best Polo Argentino Pony of the Final and of the 2014 Season, but also received the applause of those present for its outstanding performance.
This exceptional mare is a member of a generous polo family that begins with La Luna, an excellent player with awards won both in England and Argentina; her offspring are innumerable in both first and second generation high-goal playing ponies, which have also received prizes, as is the case of Open Guillermina; best Polo Argentino Pony of the 2012 Open, and also stallions with outstanding progenies, such as Open Espacial. One of its offspring, Open Califa( La Luna by Sobornado) has been cloned for reproduction purposes, Machitos Califita Clone 1. Delfín Uranga, President of the Argentine Association of Polo Pony Breeders, handed out the prize to the best Polo Argentino Pony of the Hurlingham Open Final as well as of the Palermo Open, to Open Chequera, daughter of Sportivo and Open Cheta.
“ She’ s an incredible mare. Great-granddaughter of La Luna, she gave my father so much, and now her great-granddaughter is doing the same by me. The truth is that she’ s the best mare I have and I’ m very happy to be able to play her”, said her rider after the prize-giving.
