The Ragamuffin -
You're momentarily distracted as a scruffy little kid innocently brushes past you, and disappears back into the crowded masses of the city.
You've not just lost
your wallet, but the little scamp stole a piece of your heart too.
The Ragamuffin can be a raconteur of any age, though it is rare but not unseen, for the elder Ragamuffin to adopt a darker personality as they learn that the world can be a cruel and cold place. This adaptation is completely up to the individual.
The term Ragamuffin originates between 1350 – 1400 in the poetry Piers Plowman, originally called a “Ragamoffyn”. A staple of Dickensian literature, the Ragamuffin's appearance is traditionally from the Victorian era, but like their social counterpart the Dandy, there is no limit what era one can base their appearance on. The use of Cockney slang and accents is also up to the individual, however the skill of pickpocketing may result in personal injury if caught.
e.g. Rapskallion.
