Antipodean SteamGuild Journal | Page 21

At the time of writing Fiverr has 7 services offered under the term “Steampunk”. These included offerings of Steampunk Trinkets and an offer to dress up in Steampunk attire and tell a story. The three which sparked the most interest at the ASGJ were all services we thought to commision.. for science.

Meldawn9, a freelance Canadian writer offered the service of a 500 word steampunk short story. This was an offer too good to refuse, since the journal did not yet have any submissions for fiction. We contacted Mel, and a week later we had our story. If you read The Hand of Time, later in this zine, this is her creation.

Finally, since the SteamGuild wanted to have this publication better known, we needed some marketing. Sarah_Q has a service promoting any steampunk message to the 50+ steampunk groups she is a member of, if you found out about the ASGJ from social media, it was probably her.

Fiverr has given steampunk creators who would not have services they could sell at a steampunk convention a storefront. If you have a non-physical trade you wish to peddle then fiverr could be your ideal social marketplace.

Logomoko, a Philippines based designer, offered to design a Steampunk logo for $5. this service included up to five revisions before we received our final jpeg. Naturally since the SteamGuild had yet to publish the journal we were yet to have a masthead, so the logo on the front cover is also a fiverr creation.

Editors Note. Some services had been removed by time of publication.
