Career roundtable Students and alumni from the School of Science connected at a roundtable organised to give students the opportunity to learn about the careers that their seniors have successfully pursued after graduation. The event aimed to provide students with career inspiration and the excitement to explore their own career options. Business alumni Christmas brunch Insta-elections, youth, politics and social media Malaysia held its 14th General Election early in 2018, and politics took centre stage in discussions among the public. Alumni of the School of Social Arts and Sciences organised a public forum in response, featuring panellists Dr Pauline Leong from Sunway University; Fahmi Fadzil, Communications Director of Keadilan; and Zaidel Baharuddin, Special Officer to the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs. The forum examined the strategies of major parties in dealing with youth apathy as well as the challenges of campaigning in the digital era within the Malaysian context. The Monash Malaysia Business Alumni Chapter (MMBAC) ended the year on a high note – with a Christmas brunch at Eatropica, where they introduced the new MMBAC committee for 2019. The members had also met for a Merdeka lunch in August and celebrated the nation’s independence day with a delightful spread of Malaysian cuisine. Sporting events Year-end celebration We marked yet another great year with our alumni who returned to campus for a relaxing evening of good food and entertainment, all while catching up with fellow alumni just before the graduation weekend. With regularly organised sporting activities, our alumni are able to get involved in various events ranging from bowling and go-kart challenges to professional training in badminton and running. Monash has also partnered with KOA Fitness to host workouts conducted by certified instructors. 60
