Reconnecting
abroad
Our Sri Lankan alumni reunited at
the annual networking session
organised by the Monash University
Sri Lankan Alumni Chapter,
welcoming the opportunity to
mingle with their peers, reconnect
with former lecturers and meet new
people. A similar event was also
held in Indonesia to connect
Jakarta-based alumni.
Buka puasa
get-together
Our alumni broke fast together at a
special dinner held during the month
of Ramadan. The event was catered
by Picha Project, a social enterprise
empowering marginalised communities
in Malaysia.
Chemistry alumni dinner
Monash University Australia’s School of Chemistry and Monash University Malaysia’s
School of Science jointly hosted a dinner for alumni and industry partners in Kuala
Lumpur. From the School of Chemistry, we welcomed Head of School Professor Bart
Follink, Deputy Head of School Professor Phil Andrews, and Associate Dean Professor
Antonio Patti. The gathering allowed our postgraduate students and graduates to share
their career experience and to explore collaborative opportunities with industry
representatives.
Networking sessions KL Heritage Trail
Several alumni networking events were hosted throughout the year, including for
graduates of Chemical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering,
Pharmacy, and Psychology. These sessions provide a platform for fellow graduates to
reunite, share experiences, develop professional business and community networks,
and discover changes that have taken place in the University. Our alumni enjoyed a tour of the
historic heart of Kuala Lumpur with a
local guide, visiting famous colonial-era
landmarks such as the Kuala Lumpur
City Gallery, Independence Square, Blue
Pond of Kuala Lumpur, Sultan Abdul
Samad Building, St Mary’s Cathedral
and Royal Selangor Club. The walk was
a great way to learn all about the city’s
humble beginnings and the following
developments that made Kuala Lumpur
what it is today.
Campus outreach
The Malaysian Australian Alumni Council organised its inaugural career talk on education
opportunities in Australia. Also in attendance was Malaysian astronaut Captain Faiz
Kamaludin who spoke about his experience studying at an Australian university.
