Spaces The Campus Masterplan continues Major transformative upgrades to existing buildings across the campus continued throughout the year, guided by the Campus Masterplan that began in 2017 with an investment of over RM10 million. New modern spaces for informal learning and student collaboration have been made available for students and staff, including: > a vast collaborative learning space which also features six private discussion rooms and five reading rooms > a refurbished floor at the library to provide six contemporary discussion rooms, an expanded study area, and new research and learning walk-in points Medical school launches 10 new learning suites Ten new learning suites in Building 4, under the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, debuted this year. The learning suites were redesigned by Associate Professor Rakesh Naidu and his team to support various active learning activities and teaching practices. The suites are equipped with Mira Cast which allows students and staff to capture activities in front of them and screen-share on the TV via their personal devices such as smartphones or tablets. The new learning suites are also designed to optimise space utilisation for a conducive, interactive learning environment. > a three-tier link-deck for group discussions and study > next-generation computer labs offering modern capabilities such as live-streaming and specialised video conferencing equipment for inter-campus learning. New Clinical School Library opens its doors The new Clinical School Library was unveiled in April. The relocation of the facility at the heart of the Johor Bahru campus is integral to the University’s strategy to re-position the Library as a learning hub, central to the Clinical School’s teaching and research. It reflects our commitment to enhance the student experience through space transformation and to increase opportunities for Library staff to engage purposefully with students and academics. 33
