Sharing successful exemplars of research skills application Since December 2015, the Library and Learning Commons has been leading the implementation of the Research Skill Development (RSD) framework – which develops our students' research skills – in library programs and on campus, in collaboration with academic staff. An event hosted by the Library showcased successful library–academics collaborations and demonstrated the RSD’s potential as an effective tool for curriculum enhancement and renewal. Educational technologies at Monash The workshop facilitated by Trev Wood, Senior Education Innovation Designer at Monash University's Office of Learning and Teaching, explored three technologies that are being implemented at Monash, including our online video and learning platforms, and polling technologies like Flux and Poll Everywhere. Another workshop was also held to equip participants with skills in using Monash's online video platform to record, edit, share or manage videos of presentations and lectures. Walk and Talk: Active learning strategies and spaces Designing active learning curriculum with a pinch of SALT With ongoing changes in the educational landscape, from learning space designs to new technologies, the new world demands 21st century skills. The Walk and Talk workshop, facilitated by Leanne Rose-Munro, Manager of Learning Space Innovation Research at Monash University's Office of Learning and Teaching, gave participants insight into these changes and challenged them to plan for the future of active learning. The Strategic Active Learning Transformation (SALT) initiative at Monash, especially Faculty-led initiatives, transforms existing didactic sessions within selected large cohort units and transitions them into active on-campus and/or blended mode. This session, led by Professor Kris Ryan from Monash Education Innovation, introduced our staff to SALT and the role of the SALT team in incorporating active learning strategies in curriculum design. 32
