HIGHLIGHTS OF THE YEAR
Monash achieves 6-star ranking in
SETARA 2017
Monash University Malaysia has been rated as an
Outstanding (6-Star) university – the highest tier – in the
latest Malaysia Rating for University and University
College Excellence (SETARA) 2017, conducted by the
Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. We are one of
only three private universities to have achieved this
coveted distinction.
Monash Malaysia welcomes new President
and Pro Vice-Chancellor
Professor Andrew Walker succeeded Professor Helen
Bartlett as President and Pro Vice-Chancellor at Monash
Malaysia. Professor Walker first joined us as Vice-President
(Academic) in November 2016 after more than 20 years at
the Australian National University in Canberra.
JCSMHS celebrates 10th anniversary
The Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences
(JCSMHS) celebrated its ten-year milestone with a gala
dinner, alumni gathering and the launch of two new books –
a commemorative book and a collection of stories from
alumni. The event was officiated by the Minister of Health,
YB Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam.
1767 students graduate in 2017
Monash Malaysia graduated 1767 students in two
sessions held in the year. Chancellor Simon McKeon
AO presented graduates with their scrolls at the first
ceremony, while Deputy Chancellor Dr Christine
Nixon APM was on hand to congratulate the
graduates in the second.
