GA2 leads Knowledge Economy Workshop
for EPU - Malaysian Prime Minister's Office
Monash's Global Asia in the 21st Century (GA21) platform
completed a three-year research study on the knowledge content
in key economic sectors in Malaysia Phase III (MYKE III). The
research was funded by the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) of the
Prime Minister’s Office. A 'Knowledge Transfer and Capability
Development' workshop and MYKE Dissemination Forum was
conducted to share the findings which attracted more than 300
attendees including policymakers, senior representatives of
government agencies, industry associations, industry
thought-leaders, and academia.

This scheme aims to provide seed funding
to support research and development
projects that will contribute to the sustainable
development of Monash Malaysia and the
community where we are located. Key
themes supported are: A grant scheme was established with the
Sunway Group of Companies to foster
stronger research collaboration between
our organisations. This will enhance the
innovative capacity and global
competitiveness of Monash Malaysia and
Sunway, and facilitate the discovery of new
solutions to complex commercial and
industrial problems encountered by Sunway
in a wide range of commercial and
industrial areas.

STUDENTS
Best Presentation Award
Kamran Baksh Soomro, a PhD student in Civil Engineering, was
awarded the Session's Best Presentation Award at the 4th
International Conference on Agriculture and Forestry, held by the
International Institute of Knowledge Management Colombo, Sri
Lanka. He bested participants from 16 countries.

CPA Australia x KPMG Challenge
Three Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) students won the CPA
Australia x KPMG: Student to Strategist Challenge. Khor Kaai Yi,
Stephen Tan Wen Jin and Ng Ching Khai were awarded a cash prize
of RM3500, a one-year CPA Australia membership fee waiver, and
internship opportunities with KPMG.
