FLORA MOUNT AUBURN The 15,000 carefully selected plants that comprise Mount Auburn ’ s landscape are a significant draw for our visitors . In September 2020 , we unveiled Flora Mount Auburn : a new publically accessible collections database that allows you to search and locate every single tree , shrub , perennial , and groundcover in the Cemetery .

STAY HOME SWEET AUBURN While the Cemetery was closed to the general public in Spring 2020 , one of our most successful virtual engagement tools was a new video series , Stay Home Sweet Auburn . Featuring thirteen short videos by Events & Outreach Coordinator Corinne Elicone , Stay Home Sweet Auburn gave viewers a closer look at a diverse group of historical stories commemorated at Mount Auburn , from Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl author Harriet Jacobs ( 1813-1897 , Lot 4389 Clethra Path ); to Alice North Lincoln ’ s ( 1852 – 1926 , Lot 817 Snowdrop Path ) advocacy against inhumane quarantine conditions on Rainsford Island ; to the story of the nowdemolished Stranger ’ s Tomb ( Lot 324 ) where guests at the Tremont House Hotel could be buried if they died while staying there .
