Our Mission
The Arc Maryland works to create a world where children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities have and enjoy equal rights and opportunities.
The Arc Maryland At A Glance
The Arc Maryland has been working to improve the lives of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1950. From modest beginnings as a small group of concerned parents, to the largest and strongest grassroots advocacy organization for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Maryland and their families. Our 5,000 plus members include people with developmental disabilities, parents and family members, educators, professionals, volunteers and interested citizens. We accomplish our work through the efforts of a professional staff, volunteers, ten local chapters and alliances with state and local organizations, coalitions and agencies. We touch 140,000 individuals through our legislative and public policy. We advocate for thousands of children and adults on state waiting lists. The Arc Maryland is an integral part of a nationwide movement with more than 700 state and local chapters across the nation.
