Annual Report Annual Report FY2012 | Page 2

Dear Friends: The Arc Maryland is continually reinvigorating our mission—being sensitive to today’s context, and the needs of today’s family. Thanks to our roots, some things don’t change at all. The Arc Maryland is, at its very heart, a grassroots movement of people who live the reality of families and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We continue to advocate individually and collectively to effect change. We maintain our dedication to providing opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. The Arc Maryland continued its history of being on the frontlines advocating for legislation to improve the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in health care, education, employment, housing and more. In the 2012 Session of the Maryland General Assembly we made much progress and enjoyed many victories. Our 2012 successes are outlined in this report. This year we focused on The Arc Maryland’s Public Policy work and how effective partnering can result in victories for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and ensure our longterm viability. The Arc Maryland has a long history of coalition building and we are proud of our work with our partners on the Alcohol Tax. In honor of the Alcohol Tax victory, we hosted the Lorraine Sheehan Alcohol Tax Coalition at this year’s annual State Convention. We sincerely thank all our donors for their generosity and support of The Arc Maryland this year. Financial contributions help fund our mission for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are proud of the accomplishments and achievements we have made over the course of this fiscal year for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Thank you for achieving with us.
