World Bank Partnership: 450 Schools Nationwide
The MHPSS project with the World Bank represents the realization of a vision first sparked by the Socio-Emotional Learning( SEL) pillar of the Seroond Turnaround Program. What began as an internal commitment to the whole child has grown into something far larger: a national Randomized Controlled Trial across 450 schools, 225 treatment, 225 control, with content developed by a panel of 15 expert psychologists and a three-tiered service model spanning universal classroom support to specialized case management.
This is not a pilot. It is the largest school-based mental health intervention in Armenia’ s history. The numbers from Wave 1( 150 schools) are remarkable:

of teachers actively implementing MHPSS activities in classrooms. teachers in grades 5 – 7 trained through 36,500 + mentoring visits. of parents and educators agree mental health is as vital as physical health and academic success. of parents report clear benefits for their children’ s wellbeing.
220 mentors deployed nationwide, including 70 from the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Centers.
Preliminary midline findings show measurable reductions in student depression and anxiety.
