Message from the Registrar & CEO
Using our momentum to tackle new challenges
Dr . Nancy Whitmore CPSO Registrar & CEO
As you look through CPSO ’ s 2024 Annual Report , I hope you will see the range and extent of our organization ’ s achievements over the past year . We launched a new public-facing Physician Register that is easy to navigate with state-of-the-art security protocols . As part of our effort to maintain a robust and agile registration framework , we created new and updated pathways to licensure for qualified doctors . And we engaged a record-high number of doctors in our Quality Improvement ( QI ) Program – nearly 140 percent of our target volume .
Using that momentum , we are looking to challenge ourselves even further . In 2025 , we will complete our first five-year QI cycle and begin piloting our newly updated QI Program , which will apply new ways of supporting doctors in their ongoing learning . We will incorporate the same spirit of continuous improvement to our 2025 Board Director elections as we work to identify potential enhancements that can be made to the election cycle in future years .
We are also looking forward to regulating Physician Assistants ( PAs ), whom we are pleased to welcome as registrants of the College effective April 1 , 2025 . PAs play an important role in the provision of health care , and we look forward to supporting them as they become regulated healthcare professionals in Ontario .
I ’ d like to acknowledge CPSO ’ s 2024 Board of Directors and its Chair , Dr . Ian Preyra , for their dedication , insight , and support of innovation in medical regulation . I look forward to a productive year with Dr . Sarah Reid in her role as Board Chair for 2025 .
I hope you will read through the 2024 Annual Report to learn more about our work as we maintain our focus this coming year on engagement , system collaboration , right-touch regulation , and continuous improvement .
