ENGAGEMENT

Striving to inform , involve and learn

Meaningful Engagement is one of CPSO ’ s strategic priorities , as we recognize the importance of connecting with patients , physicians and the broader public on the issues affecting Ontario ’ s health-care system .

Consultations
Our processes are stronger , and our policy initiatives are better , when our communities have a voice in matters that impact them .
Throughout the year , we engaged with more than 1,140 stakeholders – including patients , physicians , other health-care organizations and the general public -- in consultations on topics such as medical professionalism , proposed registration changes , regulating physician assistants and modernizing our Out-of-Hospital Premises Standards .
Citizen Advisory Group

This awareness is reflected in how we update policies , and train and educate our Board of Directors , committee members and staff . In 2023 , we highlighted the unique barriers two patient groups face in accessing care : patients facing ableism , and patients experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity .
Beyond these specific priorities , we continued critical discussions about how racism , discrimination and colonialism remain a threat to the health-care system ’ s ability to deliver equitable care . As part of this effort ,
