communities , made possible by the introduction of Late Start Wednesdays . This new structure ensures staff have ongoing opportunities to collaborate and learn together across the school so we can continue to provide the best education possible for our students . We re-envisioned parts of the CHS birthday to make room for students to interact with alumnae , believing , as we do , that education is a conversation across the generations . We were thrilled so many of our alumnae were able to join us on our special 125th birthday in March and share their experiences of CHS with our current students .
Our commitment to responsibility and stewardship was evident in the continued evolution of our Ivy Compass Program , which has recently focused on nurturing social awareness and deepening students ’ experiences . The Ivy Compass team tailored a Grade 12 program to provide in-depth , impactful learning around the challenges for the residents of the Downtown Eastside , particularly women : our graduating class heard from a variety of NGOs and experts working in the area , and using design thinking , explored possible interventions .
As the Ivy Compass Program continues to evolve with our student ’ s interests , we remain responsible citizens by supporting practices and partnerships that benefit our broader community . We were thrilled to be able to host our first in person Winter Bazaar since 2019 , supporting Kidsafe . And finally , in partnership with Women Leaders of Tomorrow , we were also delighted to welcome two young Afghan students to CHS to complete their high school education .
Our new strategic plan , with its five strategies , will guide our actions in the upcoming years . In established schools like CHS , the future is often more about refinement and evolution than radical change . Developed with extensive community input , I trust this plan will serve us well in our mission to educate young women to thrive and to become the citizens committed to the greater good that this century needs .
