A MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
Ena Harrop HEAD OF SCHOOL
The past academic year marked two significant milestones for Crofton House School . We celebrated an impressive anniversary for the school : 125 years of empowering girls through education . We also launched our new strategic plan and a new articulation of the CHS Identity . Rooted in Dr Jessie Gordon ’ s legacy , this identity states explicitly our commitment to girl-centred education and our belief in the role of women in making a better future possible for all . In addition , for the first time since the 2018-2019 school year , we were able to hold all our events back on campus and truly bring back the sense of community that we had so sorely missed during the pandemic years .
In reflecting on the past year , I already see the commitments of our new strategic plan , Thriving in Possibility - agility , responsibility and belonging - standing out with clarity in the actions that we took to continue to grow the Crofton House School proposition .
Belonging was central to the School ’ s growth . As a community , we have advanced our commitment to
Social and Emotional Learning ; this has included further professional development for our staff around neurodiversity and transnational students . We also surveyed our Chinese speaking families to better understand their needs when accessing school information and resources , and the CHS Parents ’ Auxiliary reimagined some of our most cherished events with inclusivity at the forefront . We know that a sense of belonging is essential for students to thrive both academically and personally and hence our enduring commitment to fostering it for everyone in our community .
Our community demonstrated agility in various ways . The Career Education Department in the Senior School expanded the annual Career Conference for Grade 11 and 12 students , providing more opportunities than ever for students to connect with alumnae and members of our community and explore career options . Equally , the Work Experience Program was able to offer double the number of placements than previous years to students in Grades 10 to 12 . We prioritized staff development through K-12 professional learning
