Continuous Improvement 2021
Launching the Ontario Physicians and Surgeons Discipline Tribunal
Another huge accomplishment for us in 2021 was the launch of the Ontario Physicians and Surgeons Discipline Tribunal ( OPSDT ) on September 1st . Formerly known as the CPSO Discipline Committee , the change to the OPSDT modernizes our discipline process by better signaling its neutrality and clearly defining the discipline function as independent of the College , inspiring more confidence from the public and members .
With the new name comes the Tribunal ’ s own branding and website , available both in English and in French . The new website includes discipline hearing schedules and outcomes , resources about the process for disciplining Ontario physicians , and much more .
The New CPSO Member Portal
2021 saw the first full year where Ontario ’ s physicians could complete the annual renewal of their certificate of registration and other critical documents online through CPSO ’ s new Member Portal .
The Member Portal allows physicians to login and get access to the services and applications they need to practise medicine in one secure place . It has also helped us improve and modernize the annual renewal survey , making it faster and easier for our members to complete .
We also created a message centre within the new portal allowing physicians to communicate directly with the CPSO about registration , applications , and member services in one place .
Continuously Improving – By the Numbers
As of November 2021 , CPSO staff identified and completed 382 internal improvements .
Dialogue magazine offers a paperless version and 10,000 Ontario MDs sign up for it .
We respond to 94 % of calls to our Patient & Public Help Centre within one business day .
