Most of the complaints that the Inquiries, Complaints
and Reports Committee take action on require the
physician to change their practice – perhaps take a
course on record-keeping or communications. In rare
instances, the conduct is serious enough to result in a
formal hearing before the Discipline Committee.

At the end of 2018, the discipline caseload was 88,
with 53 referrals being made in 2018.
In 2018, the Committee completed 65 cases,
including 62 cases in 60 hearings (3 cases joined in
1 hearing) of allegations of professional misconduct
and/or incompetence, two applications for
reinstatement (AR - one denied; one granted), and
one motion to vary (MTV - granted).
