MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR AND CEO

Among our many notable achievements this year , we delivered a Corporate Strategic Plan outlining our priorities and guiding the future course for the company . The process of developing this five-year plan gave staff , our Board and other stakeholders valuable opportunities to engage in frank discussions about our priorities , where we are as an organisation , and where we want to be .
This annual report is structured around the strategic plan ’ s five identified priorities , which focus on delivering landscape solutions , developing our people , strengthening governance and leadership , supporting resilient communities , and ensuring a long-term future for our business .
This year we supported communities to build resilience and meet challenges ; pursued smarter solutions ; strengthened our partnerships ; and worked to increase community and political commitment to protecting natural resources .
Our staff have worked tirelessly to deliver projects and meet milestones across a range of funding programs , and we thank them for their efforts . As some projects have ended , others have taken their place , and we have been developing partnerships with non-government funding partners including the Great Barrier Reef Foundation and Evolution Mining .
This year we continued exploring the possibility of a merger with Southern
Gulf NRM . A proposed merger would

provide opportunities to share back office services while continuing to deliver high-quality natural resource management across 20 per cent of Queensland . A final decision on the proposed merger will be taken later this year .
We also ramped up efforts to diversify our funding base this year . We continued developing the Reef Credit scheme , together with partners Terrain NRM and GreenCollar . We also began investigating carbon markets , and started venturing into edutourism , which presents exciting opportunities to share our knowledge with the many visitors to North Queensland each year .
