OUR LEADERSHIP ROLE HELPS BREAK DOWN BARRIERS
We enjoy excellent relationships with landholders , science , industry , government , community groups and Traditional Owners . This means we are uniquely placed to provide regional leadership by bringing these groups to the table — helping them strengthen relationships and find common ground .
FOCUS ON : CONNECTING GOVERNMENT WITH LANDHOLDERS
This year we provided opportunities for landholders and government representatives to come together and have productive discussions around policy and regulatory issues .
WORKSHOP UNPACKS VEGETATION MANAGEMENT LAWS
We connected graziers with Queensland Government staff to discuss new vegetation management laws at a forum at Woontonvale Station , Guthalungra . More than 80 landholders attended the event , which we co-hosted with AgForce and the Queensland Department of Natural Resources , Mines and Energy ( DNRME ).
Event organiser , Project Manager Lisa Hutchinson , said the workshop provided a safe environment to exchange accurate information .
“ Graziers needed answers and DNRME needed a platform to disseminate information . We saw the opportunity to make this happen , and people came away feeling more confident about their legislative responsibilities . It was great to see relationships established between graziers and a government department , because the more we can open up the lines of communication , the more comfortable people become to ask questions , seek information and get the answers that they need to be efficient in their decision making , “ she said .
Grazier Leanne O ’ Sullivan , of Glenalpine Station , Collinsville , said the workshop cleared up myths and assumptions that had been bandied about in the media .
“ We all had an opportunity to hear first-hand from DNRME and have our concerns , issues and questions addressed . I commend NQ Dry
Tropics for holding this information day so soon after the new laws were put in place . It was timely , and our industry needs more of this proactive attitude and action from key industry stakeholders .”
