Minutes of the 57th National AGM 10 & 19. Motions MOTION NO.2 IRO AS ELECTED POST Proposed by NEX Motion affecting the constitution Article 3 Section 1 Clause B Requires 2/3rd majority The International Relations Officer shall be an Elected Member of the National Board and he shall be the Convenor of the International Relations Committee which will consider, report on and promote all matters relating to goodwill in international relationships and all matters relating to fellow Member Associations of RT International, including international service and fellowship schemes. EXPLANATION Currently, the Immediate Past President becomes the International Relations Officer of Round Table India. Being the largest Association in the World, time has come for RT India to take a pro-active role in the RT International platform. The IRO is a very critical responsibility in view of RT India’s growing role in RT International affairs an IRO is required to Travel to World RT International Meet, RT International Half yearly meet, RT International ASPA Meet, other RT International Regional Meets and NAGMs of key associations like RT Netherlands, RT Nepal, RT Srilanka, RT Belgium, RT South Africa etc with whom RT India enjoys a special relationship. IRO is the bridge between RT India and rest of RT International, has to play a significant role in promoting Project Twinning, Exchange Agreements and International Fellowship. This can be better achieved if we can have a dedicated person who is independently elected as IRO. This could be better than the current system of having the IPP as IRO by default. Proposed by: NEX Seconded by: RT283 Amendment No.1 Tr. Piyush Daga proposed the amendment on behalf of the NEX as: IRO shall be an elected member and shall fulfil the criteria for an elected Head Bard member. In addition to the above he should have attended 2 International meets (1 World Meet and Any one of ASPA, WM or HYM) and should been a part of 2 NEX Boards. Proposed by: NEX (Tr. Piyush Daga) Seconded by: RT246 Clarification: Tr. Vivek Dalmia asked if Part of NEX would mean Convener or Committee Member. Tr. Dhruv clarified that it can be either Convener / Committee member. Tr. DK Singh RT279 asked if sitting President can file for the post of IRO. Tr. Dhruv clarified that this can be done. 11
