PERFORMANCE BASKETBALL
Scotland and GB
Building on the success of the first ever Scottish Olympians in basketball at London 2012, 2013 saw strong
performances from Scottish athletes, competing with GB Senior and U20 Squads across Europe.
GB’s Senior Men and Women competed in FIBA Eurobasket 2013 in Slovenia and France, respectively. The Women
achieved a 9th place finish with 3 wins over Serbia, Latvia and Croatia, and 3 losses. The Men just missed out on a
place in the second round, finishing 4th in their group with 2 wins over Israel and Germany, and 3 losses.
Rose Anderson and Kieron Achara followed their Olympic year with performances at Eurobasket, whilst Gareth
Murray and Ali Fraser made their debuts for GB with the men in Slovenia.

At U20 level, Grant Mackay contributed to the U20 Men gaining promotion to Division A for the 2014 season, by
finishing 2nd in Romania with 7 wins and 1 loss. Claire Paxton and Hilary Wood also featured for the U20 Women,
who finished 8th FIBA European Division B, in Bulgaria, with 2 wins and 6 losses.
Overall, this season has seen an increase in Scottish representation at GB level, which shows great progress.

Another highlight of the year was to see Gregor
Gray and Malcolm Winning competing at the Youth
Olympic Festival in Australia under Team GB. These young talented athletes brought a Bronze medal home, showing
the potential Scotland will have for GOLD COAST 2018.
