ScotlandAs1 - MakeItHappen North of Scotland RDL—Sportsmanship between teams Schools Competition 2012-2013 A variety of schools leagues are delivered throughout the Highlands. Due to the size of the area, basketballscotland organise basketball to fit what works in each area, from Inter Island games to our West Coast League. Nine schools play in this League and sometimes travel up to 2 hours for games. The main schools event is the Inverness Primary Schools League which runs in the second and third terms. This year we had 19 teams in the U12 and U10 age groups, with Hilton, Cradlehall and Balloch all winning titles. All of the regional development has helped in the National Schools Cup, with 3 teams playing in their respective finals and 2 winning National Championships. The biggest improvement has been the willingness of small schools to travel and Active schools to help with running after school events. Coach/Officials/Volunteer Development basketballscotland will try to support anyone who wants to get involved by making courses affordable and easily accessible. The Coaching and Volunteering Awards are also a small thank you for all the work coaches, volunteers and officials do throughout the season. The most important project basketballscotland works on in the Highlands is our Basketball Crew. This is made up of twelve young players between the ages of 14 and 16, who volunteer in the basketball community while achieving their coaching and officiating badges. They assist at a variety of events from disability days to Regional Development Leagues. The programme teaches them good values that will stay with them and keep them involved in volunteering and helping as they get older. Responsibility - Dedication - Teamwork - Progress 14
