Volunteerism — Connecting girls with inspiring role models To discover who she can be, a girl needs access to inspiring adults who both encourage and respect her. Today’s Girl Scouts offers many flexible ways to volunteer. No matter how much time volunteers can spare — even if it’s just a few hours of mentoring — they have a direct effect on girls’ leadership development. There are numerous ways our volunteers make a difference through Girl Scouting, including: • • • • • • • 10 sharing a hobby or profession through a Girl Scout program, spending a week at camp, lending expertise on building and grounds to a camp property committee, teaching girls financial literacy through the Girl Scout Cookie Program, leading a troop, training a group of Girl Scout volunteers or mentoring a girl earning her Gold Award. girl scouts western pennsylvania 2012-2013
