Objective 1.7: Students will achieve proficiency in industry-related workplace skills. Students achieved a promotion rate of 92%, a certification testing rate of 86% and a certification passing rate of 75%. b. Accountability Plan: Student Non-Academic Performance Objective II.1: Students will increase their opportunity to become naturalized American citizens and to fully contribute to American society. Seventy percent (73%) of the students in the Citizenship course demonstrated the ability to pass the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) exam after completing the course taught at Carlos Rosario Charter School. Furthermore, eight (8) students passed the USCIS exam and became naturalized citizens. Objective ll.2: Student will become more employable: In terms of student employability, the Supportive Services Department counseled 389 students from September 2006 to June 2007. One hundred and twenty five (125) of those students were referred to jobs and 69 of those obtained employment. Seventy one percent (71%) of students referred to employment were offered the job. Job Counseling: Three hundred eight nine (389) received job counseling services. Services included job counseling as well as assistance with job applications, job interviews, obtaining police clearance, security background checks, and drug testing. Job Referrals: One hundred and twenty five (125) students (who fulfilled the employer requirements) were referred to unsubsidized employment. Referrals were made based on the students’ skills, aptitudes, experience, and interest. Job placement: Sixty-nine (69) students or 55% of the students referred for job opportunities by job developers were directly place in non-subsidized jobs. The job developers expanded the school’s network of employers throughout the year in the technology, education, and service industries. Examples of established contacts are Health Advocacy Center, Inc., Oxford School of Nursing, Morrison Clark Inn, Vargas and Associates, Pepsi Bottling Group, Perfect Settings, Alliance Inc., Saks Jandel, Realm Industries, Ridgewells Catering Company, GAP Community Day Care Center, and Starbucks Coffee Company. To determine employer satisfaction, 12 employers were asked to fill out an employer satisfaction survey. The comments ranged from satisfied and very satisfied to excellent. Of Rosario students, one employer commented, “Great people with great attitudes and especially well educated.” Objective II.3: Through workshops, students will acquire necessary life skills. The goal of the Supportive Services Department at the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year was to continue to expand upon its impressive calendar of activities and workshops. In collaboration with creative and committed faculty, more than 50 workshops and activities were offered to the student body this year.
