Objective I.1: Orientation (Literacy): The school meets the language and life skills needs of
students who are unable to read and write in their native language.
As Chart One (1) below illustrates, 75% of literacy students were promoted to the next level of
competency. Chart Two also illustrates the entry (pre-test) and exit (post-test) average scores for
the literacy students for SY 2006-2007.

Chart Two (2) shows the literacy students’ entry and exit performance average score on the
CASAS reading test. The CASAS reading test is a norm-referenced assessment. The three-digit
number represents a scaled score. The CASAS testing organization states that scale score
increases of even two to three points represent significant progress.
