Party/Fundraiser. The fundraiser has become a yearly tradition uniting alumni with current
students, and this year a total of $9,010.10 was raised. The Environmental Committee organized
an education fundraiser through which reusable cloth shopping bags were sold to raise money for
scholarships. A total of $2,685.50 was raised. The Carlos Rosario family continues to think
creatively about ways to raise money for scholarships.
4. School Year and Hours of Operation
The school year began on August 28, 2006, and ended on June 14, 2007. There were two
instructional semesters of approximately 19 weeks each. According to the District of Columbia
School Reform Act, students who receive 12 hours of instruction per week are considered to be
full-time. Given this criterion, students enrolled in the evening session met the requirement for
full-time equivalent students. Students enrolled in the morning and afternoon sessions exceeded
the number of instructional hours. Because of their parenting and work demands, the school
develops its class schedules to accommodate students’ responsibilities. Please see Table 2 for the
schedule of classes.
