Financial Aid Workshop: This workshop was conducted by a College Board Representative
building upon the “Adults on the Move Workshop.” A presentation was given on the application
process, the difference between: grants, loans, community colleges, four-year colleges, and
public and private colleges/universities. Students interested in applying for financial aid attended
the workshop. A total of 43 students attended the workshop.
Excel Institute: The workshop was conducted by a representative of the Excel Institute. The
workshop was attended by students interested in attending an auto mechanic vocational program.
A total of 63 students attended the workshop.
Child Development Associate Training Program Workshop: The workshop was conducted
by a representative from CentroNia. The workshop was attended by students interested in
obtaining a CDA certification. A total of 17 students attended the workshop.
First Time Homebuyers Workshop: The workshop was conducted by a Latino Economic
Development Corporation representative. The workshop focused on building credit,
understanding your credit report, and local programs and financial assistance available for first
time homebuyers. Students interested in purchasing a home attended the workshop. A total of 37
students attended the workshop.
Self Defense Class: The class was conducted by a DC Rape Crisis Center Representative.
Students were given safety tips and were taught self defense positions and moves. A total of 27
students attended the class.
