Appendix B Supportive Services Highlights Upward Mobility Program: The Supportive Services Department’s Upward Mobility Program provides students information about college and vocational training programs. Counselors provide one-on-one counseling including higher education opportunities in public and private colleges and universities; vocational training programs; evaluation referrals; the application and admission process and financial aid. Also, a representative from the College Board was present once a week to give specialized attention to those students applying for financial aid and assisting them through the application process. Edna Frazier Cromwell Scholarship Fund: The Board of the Edna Frazier Cromwell Scholarship Fund awarded a Carlos Rosario student with a one-time $2,000 scholarship this school year! Worede Tesfay was presented the award at the school’s Recognition Ceremony in June. Nationwide Scholarship: Nationwide Insurance Company awarded a Carlos Rosario student with a one-time $1,500 scholarship this school year! Juan Carlos Suarez was presented the award at the school’s Recognition Ceremony in June. Carlos Rosario Scholarship Fund: To assist students that are not yet able to leverage federal financial assistance, the Rosario School instituted a The Nationwide Scholarship is presented. Scholarship Fund. Through in-house, corporate, and private solicitations, funds are leveraged and scholarships awarded on a yearly basis. Every year, contingent with the availability of funds, students who applied and fulfilled all the scholarship program requirements are awarded with scholarships. During the 2005-2006 school year, three charter school students were awarded scholarships and are continuing their education through higher education. College/Vocational Fair: A college/vocational fair was held for students interested in obtaining information from local colleges and vocational programs. The following programs participated in the fair: Northern Virginia Community College, Montgomery County Community College, University of the District of Colombia, Catholic Community Services, Building Maintenance Program, the College Board and Carlos Rosario International Career Center’s, Workforce Development Program.
