supportive atmosphere. Survey data affirm the school’s decision-making processes and its involvement with all stakeholders; 84% of teachers and instructional staff agreed that they have opportunities to discuss varied issues at the school affecting decision-making processes. Similarly, the staff satisfaction survey results point to an encouraging school climate. Eighty-nine percent (89%) of staff agreed that the school’s atmosphere is one of teamwork and support among staff and teachers. Staff survey results also show a compelling understanding of the school’s mission and a strong belief that their contributions are important to the school’s actualization of its mission: 99% of staff agreed with the statement. Complete results of both the faculty and staff surveys are found in Appendix H. The Carlos Rosario School also creates a caring climate with an annual staff and teacher appreciation event. This year six teachers were rewarded with checks for perfect attendance. A hospitality committee also arranges celebrations for staff and faculty birthdays, baby showers, and other notable occasions. Objective III.3: Teachers and administrators participate in useful and important professional development: School administration planned and structured professional development to further the academic success of the school. Administration has conducted needs analysis based on faculty surveys to inform professional development topics as well as taken into consideration the results of Charter School Board Program Development Reviews. The professional development activities have given teachers a heightened awareness of how their teaching and their professional growth has a direct impact on the success of their students’ learning. During the school year, 24 in-house professional development sessions were provided to teachers, the school was represented at 11 professional events (conferences, trainings or workshops), and 84% of faculty and staff surveyed indicated satisfaction with professional development.
