Now, where does Haruma Miura fit into such a world as this? There has not been any confirmation as to what role Miura will be playing specifically, nor have there been any announcements on who will be cast as the rest of the series’ characters. Of course, there are always doubts, considering how weak most Japanese CGI has been done in the past; one specific example being the live-action adaptation of Death Note. So, the appearance of the Titans is being heavily debated amongst the fans of the franchise. There is hope, since “Isayama has also been present at business meetings for the film and has offered ideas on the scripts and characters,” as stated by an anonymous author on Anime News Network.

Another factor that must be taken into account is that Miura has never participated in an action-thriller-dystopian film, anything like Attack on Titan is expected to be. “Although the 23-year-old Miura is several years older than the teenaged Eren, the actor does have a proven track record in live-action versions of anime and manga,” as stated by Casey Baseel of “en.rocketnews24.com”. To be frank, Miura has of course done anime-to-live-action film adaptations before and they have been relatively decent. However, all live-action adaptations Miura has done were rom-coms, something that does not exist in the world of Attack on Titan. Can a rom-com actor truly take on such a challenge as Attack on Titan, with no existing history outside of such a genre?

There will always be questions asked left and right, but nothing can truly be stated or ridiculed until the release of the film in 2015. Filming for the movie will begin in the summer, with the location at Hashima Island in Nagasaki Prefecture, or more commonly known as Gunkanjima.
