No coach seriously comes into the profession for the money. If they did, they’d pretty soon leave disappointed. What we do want though is to be paid for our work – to not always be taken for granted as a free gift to clubs and anglers. Projects up and down the country have used AIF money to train new coaches, to develop facilities for existing ones and to run coach-led sessions. Similarly, Spring into Fishing – and many other Get Fishing events – embrace professional coaching as essential to a welcoming, effective angling session, particularly where newcomers are expected.
