was elected as the City
of Blacktown RSL Sub
Branch President at an
extraordinary meeting
held recently at the
Blacktown RSL Club with
an overwhelming support
from the Sub Branch
Service Members.
MR. BAENA – more popularly known in community circles as ‘Major Tom’ – is a solicitor
and resident of Blacktown City. A major in the
Australian Army Reserve (Royal Australian
Corps of Military Police), he was commissioner with the NSW Community Relations Commission and was a NSW Police Officer.
He initially joined in 2004 the Customs
House RSL Sub Branch and later transferred
to Rooty Hill RSL Sub Branch in 2005 and in
2006 transferred to the City of Blacktown RSL
Sub Branch.
He had previously served the Sub Branch
in various roles as pension officer, publicity officer, delegate to the Far Western Metropolitan
District and as Chairman/Coordinator of the
Sub Branches three youth programmes – the
Alf Ross Memorial Scholarship Scheme, The
Kokoda Track Youth Challenge and the Young
Endeavour Youth Adventure Scheme.
The City of Blacktown RSL Sub Branch is
one of the biggest Sub Branch in NSW.
